                     UHS CLASS OF 1980 REUNION

The Union High School class of 1980 held their 35th reunion on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Moncove Lake. Classmates and their families enjoyed good food, reminiscing, and lots of laughs.

 Prior to eating, the group held a short memorial service, remembering classmates who have passed away: Gilbert Amos, Billy Bragg, John Dalton, Rick Farley, Sharon Flack, Mike Kessinger, Alvin Knight, Julie Long Boggs, Gerald Mann, and Marlon Workman.

 Class clown Richard Hale provided the chief entertainment with a little help from his friends, Curtis Flack, Ernie Palmer, and Steve Ellison. A few special “awards” were given for the following: Classmate with Youngest Grandchild: Teresa Ripley; Classmate with Oldest Grandchild: Curtis Flack; Changed the Least: Cindy Tilley Clements; Classmate Whose Hair Has Changed the Most Since 1980: Cindy Hall Weikle; Traveled the Farthest Distance: Curtis Flack; and Coolest Shoes: Steve Ellison.

 The group discussed the next reunion in five years and decided to hold it on Farmers’ Day, which will the first Saturday in June of 2020. Chuck and Leisha Browning Shaver graciously have offered the use of their family farm to construct a float for the parade and hold a picnic in the evening. Hopefully more classmates will attend.
